Preparation Method :

  • Add tagliatelle to a large pan of rapidly boiling water and cook until just tender.
  • Drain, keep warm.
  • Clean octopus and cut them in half.
  • While pasta is cooking, heat oil in a large frying pan.
  • Add onion and garlic and stir over low heat until onion is tender.
  • Add tomato puree, wine, chilli sauce, basil, salt and pepper to pan. Bring to the boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Add octopus to pan. Simmer mixture for 5-10 minutes or until tender.
  • Pour octopus sauce over pasta and serve immediately.


  • 500 grams mixed tagliatelle
  • 1 kg baby octopus
  • 2 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 500 grams can tomato puree
  • 100 ml dry white wine
  • 1 tablespoon chilli sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
