BASIL TORTELLINI WITH BACON AND TOMATO SAUCE

Preparation Method :

  • Cook Pasta in a pan of boiling water until just tender. Drain and return to pan.
  • While pasta is cooking, heat oil in a medium heavy-based pan.
  • Add bacon, garlic and onion and cook 5-7 minutes over medium heat stir regularly.
  • Add chilli and undrained, chopped tomatoes; reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for at least 10 minutes.
  • Add cream and basil; cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Add sauce to pasta and toss well. Serve immediately.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams fresh or dried basil tortellini or (orecchiette)
  • 1 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • 4 rashers bacon, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh chillies 
  • 450 grams, can tomatoes 
  • 100 ml thickened or pouring cream
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
