Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a pan; sauté onions till soft and golden. Add curry leaves and the spice paste, sauté for about 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Add the prawns and stir-fry for about 5 minutes.
  • Add the vinegar, green chillies, salt and sugar. Cook uncovered at least for 10-12 minutes. Adjust seasoning.
  • Remove from heat. Transfer to a bottle when cool. Serve with rice.


  • 225 grams prawns, small, shelled, deveined
  • 200 mlIDHAYAM sesame oil
  • 100 ml vinegar
  • 2 onions, medium-sized, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon Sugar
  • 2-3 green chillies, slit
  • Few curry leaves
  • Salt to taste

Spice Paste

  • 100 ml vinegar
  • 10-12 kashmiri chillies
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 18-20 cloves garlic, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 2" piece ginger, chopped
