Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a large frying pan (skillet), add the onion and fry gently until lightly colored, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the bacon, cabbage and garlic and a little salt and pepper.
  • Stir well, and then fry for 10 to 15 minutes, turning mixture frequently. Transfer to greased gratin dish.
  • Mix the eggs and milk with a little pepper, and then pour over the cabbage. Sprinkle with the breadcrumbs and dot with butter.
  • Bake in a preheated moderate oven (180°C/350°F, Gas Mark 4) for 40 minutes.
  • Serve hot.


  • 2 tablespoon olive oil 
  • 2 onion, peeled and thinly sliced 
  • 100 grams smoked streaky bacon, derinded and cut into thin strips 
  • ½ white cabbage finely shredded
  • 2 clove garlic, peeled and crushed
  • Salt
  • Freshly ground pepper
  • 4 eggs
  • 300 ml milk
  • 2 tablespoon dried breadcrumbs 
  • 30 grams butter
