Preparation Method :

  • Soak the diced potatoes in water for 30 minutes. Drain and place the potatoes in a pan with enough water to cover them fully.
  • Add the salt and turmeric and bring to a boil. Simmer for 8-10 minutes until cooked. Drain and keep aside.
  • Heat the oil in a kadhai, add the mustard seeds and allow them to splutter.
  • Add the curry leaves. Stir in the crushed shallots and saute until lightly browned.
  • Add the boiled potatoes and toss well with chilli powder. Remove from the flame and check for seasoning. Serve with red rice.



  • 500 grams potatoes, peeled and diced
  • ½ tablespoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut oil
  • ¼ teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 10 Curry leaves
  • 100 grams Shallots, crushed
  • ¼ teaspoon Chilli powder
