This is one of the traditional way of making potato salad in Nepal. This is a healthy spicy and mouth watering recipe and is little exotic if I must say.
Serves :

Preparation Time :
15 minutes

Cooking Time :
35 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Boil potatoes in pressure cooker in the gas stove.  Keep it till 3-4 whistles.
  • When done, turn off the gas and keep it for 5 minutes
  • When potatoes get cool, peel cut the potatoes into 1 inch cubes. (Do not pour cold water over potatoes to cool).
  • Place the cut potatoes in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  • Cut the 1 onion, 2 radishes, ½ cucumber, green chillies and coriander (for seasoning) into finely chopped pieces.
  • Heat the mustard oil in small saucepan over medium-high heat.  Add fenugreek and fry until dark brown and fragrant, about 5 seconds.
  • Pour the entire contents over cut potatoes bowl.
  • Add salt, lime juice, sesame seeds powder and little water on it.  Mix well and set aside.
  • Keep coriander and green chillies cut in long pieces for seasoning.
  • Cover and wait for minimum of 30 minutes to absorb the seasonings.

  • 1 pound small potatoes
  • 1 lime, juice
  • Salt to taste
  • 50 grams sesame seeds, roasted and ground to fine powder
  • 1 spoon of red chilly powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 2 tablespoons mustard oil (mustard oil gives more flavor)
  • 100 ml water
  • 1 onion
  • 2 radishes
  • ½ cucumber, coriander and 2 green chillies finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon fenugreek seeds
