Preparation Method :

  • Peel and cut potatoes into 4 pieces each. Finely chop the onions.
  • Preheat oil in a medium frying pan. Deep fry the onion over high heat till golden brown. Transfer to a plate.
  • Remove excess oil from the frying pan leaving only 3 tablespoons oil.
  • Add mustard seeds. After a minute add the potatoes and fry over high heat for 3 minutes.
  • Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder and salt. Fry for 5 minutes.
  • Transfer to a serving bowl. Whip the yogurt and add a little salt.
  • Spread yogurt evenly over the potatoes.


  • 8 boiled potatoes
  • 4 onions
  • 300 ml peanut oil
  • 2 teaspoon mustard seeds 
  • A pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 300 ml yogurt
