Preparation Method :

  • Grease 17cm x 23cm ovenproof dish (1.25 litre/5 cup capacity).
  • Combine potatoes, garlic, nutmeg and cream in pan; simmer 5 minutes.
  • Drain, reserve cream, discard garlic.
  • Layer potatoes, onion and anchovies in prepared dish, pour over reserved cream; top with cheeses and sprinkle with pine nuts.
  • Bake, uncovered in moderate oven about 45 minutes or until potatoes are tender.



  • 1 kg old potatoes, peeled, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled
  • Pinch ground nutmeg
  • 300 ml cream
  • 100 grams onion, sliced
  • 6 anchovy fillets, drained, chopped
  • 50 grams grated parmesan cheese
  • 100 grams grated tasty Cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons pine nuts
