SHANGHAI MOCK DUCK

Preparation Method :

  • Place mock duck and remaining ingredients into a saucepan. Bring to the boil, and then simmer 15 - 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Mixture can be thickened slightly with blended corn flour if you wish. Remove star anise before serving with steamed rice.
  • Serve hot.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 gram canned vegetarian mock duck
  • 4shallots, sliced
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh ginger root
  • 2 clove star anise or pinch five spice powder
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 4 teaspoons dry sherry
  • 4 teaspoons sugar
  • 200 ml vegetable stock
