Preparation Method :

  • Mix the carrots and cabbage with sugar, vinegar and salt.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of oil. Add mustard and the cumin seeds.
  • Add the whole red chillies. In a few seconds, when the colour of the red chillies darkens a little.
  • Add the curry leaves, remove from flame after 5 seconds.
  • Pour the baghar over the carrot and cabbage relish. Mix and serve.


  • 150 grams carrots, finely sliced
  • 150 grams cabbage, finely sliced
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 4 dry whole red chillies
  • 10-15 curry leaves
  • 1 teaspoon sugar, powdered
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 2 tablespoon cooking oil
  • Salt, to taste
