Preparation Method :

  • Put the cooked rice in a bowl. Cover with a damp napkin and heat for a minute on High until hot. Stir in the yogurt and milk. Allow to cool.
  • Heat the oil in a small non-stick saucepan and fry the mustard seeds, lentils, curry leaves and chillies until it change colour.
  • Stir into the rice with the roasted peanuts and the seasoning. Allow to cool, discard the chillies and serve chilled.


  • 150 grams cooked rice    
  • 2 tablespoon semi-skimmed milk
  • 50 ml low-fat yogurt, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon Cooking oil
  • ½ teaspoon brown mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon skinned and split black gram
  • 1-2 dried red chillies, whole
  • 1 teaspoon chopped roasted peanuts  
  • Few fresh curry leaves
  • Freshly ground black pepper and salt to taste
