Preparation Method :

  • Drain the beans, place in a pan and cover with cold water. Bring to the boil and boil for 15 minutes.
  • Cover and simmer for 2hours, until tender, adding a little salt towards the end of cooking.
  • Drain the beans thoroughly and place in a bowl. Pour over the dressing and toss while still warm.
  • Grill the bacon until crisp, then crumble. Stir into the beans and leave to cool.
  • Stir in the red pepper and celery and transfer to a salad bowl.


  • 200 grams black beans, soaked overnight 
  • Salt
  • 8 tablespoons garlic dressing 
  • 100 grams thick-cut streaky bacon, cut into strips 
  • 2 red pepper, cored, deseeded and sliced 
  • 5 celery stalks, sliced
