Preparation Method :

  • Whisk together all the dressing ingredients in the order listed and set aside.
  • Put the lentils in a saucepan with 20water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 15 minutes until just tender. Drain and transfer to a serving dish.
  • Pour half the dressing over the lentils while they are still warm. Season generously with coarse sea salt and freshly ground pepper. Leave to cool.
  • Cut the spring onions, green parts included, into pieces. Cut the pieces lengthways into shreds.
  • Stir all but 1 tablespoon of the onions into the lentils. Halve the tomatoes and add with the sesame seeds.
  • Mix the remaining dressing with the yogurt and stir into the lentils. Garnish with the remaining onions. 


  • 300 grams lentils, rinsed
  • Coarse sea salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • 5 spring onions
  • 200 grams cherry tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 150 ml yogurt or double cream


  • 3 inch piece fresh root ginger, crushed in a garlic press
  • 2 tablespoon lime or lemon juice
  • 2 garlic clove, crushed
  • 3 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper
  • 6 tablespoon Sesame oil
