ONION SAUCE

Preparation Time :
45 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Chop the onion and simmer in salted water to cover until tender. Drain, reserving the liquid.
  • Melt the butter in a pan, remove from the heat and stir in the flour. Return to a low heat and stir for 1 minute.
  • Blend in the milk and 2 tablespoons of the cooking liquid. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste.
  • Stir until boiling and thickening, and then add the onion.
  • Serve with meats or vegetables. 

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 large onions 
  • 30 gram butter 
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour 
  • 250 ml warm milk 
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper
  • Freshly grated nutmeg
