Preparation Method :

  • In a large heavy-based saucepan, fry the onion in the oil until golden brown.
  • Add the cinnamon, bay leaf and the ginger and garlic pastes and fry for 1 minute.
  • Add the ground spices and fry for a further minute, then stir in yogurt and canned tomatoes and the chopped chillies and coriander leaves.
  • Stir in water and simmer the mixture for 5 minutes. Stir the cod into the sauce, and add the salt. Cover the pan and simmer for 20 minutes before serving. 


  • 5 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 large onion, peeled and chopped
  • 1-inch piece cinnamon stick
  • 2 bay leaf
  • 2 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 2 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 2 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 150 ml natural yogurt
  • 300 grams tomatoes, chopped
  • 4 fresh green chillies, chopped
  • 3 sprigs fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 500 grams cod cutlets, cut into pieces
