Preparation Method :

  • Add 2 tablespoons oil to the ground masala paste and apply the paste evenly on the fish slices.
  • Grease the banana leaf pieces lightly with oil and wrap the fish slices in them.
  • Secure each packet with a string and steam for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Remove the banana leaf and serve hot.


  • 1 kg Rawas or pomfret, cleaned, cut into 4 pieces, rinsed and drained
  • 50 ml cooking oil
  • 1 Banana leaf, cut into 4 pieces
  • Salt to taste

Grind to a fine paste

  • 50 grams Coconut, grated 
  • 1 small Onion, chopped 
  • ½ teaspoon Coriander seeds, powdered
  • ½ teaspoon Cumin seeds, powdered 
  • Green chillies, to taste 
  • 6 cloves Garlic 
  • ½ bunch Coriander leaves 
  • ½ bunch Mint leaves 
  • Small piece Jaggery 
  • Small ball Tamarind
