Preparation Method :

  • Marinate the fish with salt and keep aside for about half an hour, rinse and drain.
  • Heat the oil in a large pan. Fry the tomatoes, ground masala paste and powdered spices. Stir well, cook covered till well blended.
  • Add the fish pieces, mix well and cook on a low flame till well done. Make sure not to break the fish pieces.


  • 1 kg Promfret or any other fish, cut into thick slices washed and drained    
  • 150 grams Tomatoes finely chopped
  • Chilli powder, to taste
  • 2½ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 2 teaspoon Coriander seeds powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 100 ml cooking oil

Grind to a coarse paste

  • 5-6 Green chillies    
  • 1 bunch Coriander leaves    
  • 1 pod Garlic
  • 150 grams chopped Onion
