Preparation Method :

  • Marinate the fish with half of the turmeric powder and salt for about half an hour. Drain the fish fingers and deep fry in hot oil till golden brown.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large pan, add fenugreek seeds and green chillies.
  • When the seeds crackle, add tomatoes with salt and remaining turmeric powder and cook till the mixture thickens.
  • Add the bottle gourd and stir-cook for another 5 minutes. Add the hot water and bring to a boil. Add the fish fingers and simmer for about 5 minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves.


  • 750 grams Rohu fish, cleaned, cut into thick strips, rinsed and drained
  • 750 ml Hot water
  • 5 small Tomatoes
  • 1 Bottle gourd, cut into juliennes     
  • 6-8 Green chillies, slit
  • ½ teaspoon Fenugreek seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • IDHAYAM sesame oil 
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped coriander leaves to garnish
