SURMAI CURRY

Preparation Method :

  • Boil together the potato, brinjal in a little water. Mash the vegetables well with banana and keep aside.
  • Heat the oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds. When they crackle, add curry leaves, black gram and fry till the gram turns golden.
  • Add the onion, green chillies, coriander powder and mix well. Then add the mashed vegetables and salt.
  • Add the coconut milk and bring the mixture to a boil. Add the fish pieces and cook till tender. Stir in the lemon juice.
  • Remove from flame and serve with steamed rice.

INGREDIENTS

  • 750 grams Surmai fish, cleaned, sliced, rinsed and drained 
  • 1 Potato peeled and finely chopped 
  • 1 Onion finely chopped 
  • 1 Brinjal finely chopped 
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice 
  • 1 teaspoon Black gram 
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder 
  • ½ teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 75 ml cooking oil
  • 1 small ripe banana peeled and chopped 
  • 350 ml Thick coconut milk 
  • 6 Green chillies finely chopped 
  • Few Curry leaves 
  • Salt to taste
