Preparation Method :

  • The Dumplings: Mix together all the ingredients. Add enough water to make a thick paste.
  • Cook, stirring on a low flame till the mixture beings to leave the sides of the pan.
  • Remove from flame and divide the mixture into marble- sized balls when cool. Pressure cook the dumplings until done and set aside.
  • The Curry: Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan. Add the garlic paste, onion and fry well. Then add the ground masala paste. Fry till the oil separates.
  • Add turmeric and salt to taste with enough water and bring to a boil. Add prawns and cook till done.
  • Then add the rice dumplings, cook for another 5 more minutes and remove from heat.


  • 300 grams Prawns shelled, cleaned, washed and drained
  • 150 grams onion finely chopped 
  • 2 teaspoon Garlic ground to a paste 
  • ¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder 
  • Cooking oil as required
  • Salt to taste

The Rice Dumplings

  • 200 grams Rice flour
  • 2 teaspoon Ghee
  • 1 Onion finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut paste
  • Pepper and salt to taste

Grind to a fine paste

  • 150 grams Coconut grated
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander seeds roasted in a little oil
  • 6 Red chillies roasted in a little oil
  • Marble- sized ball Tamarind 
  • 4 Peppercorns roasted in a little oil
