Preparation Method :

  • Put the fish pieces in a colander, sprinkle lightly with salt and drizzle over half of the lime juice.
  • Rub in turmeric and leave the fish aside for about 5-10 minutes.
  • Mix together the ground spices with some salt and leave to one side.
  • Wash the fish under a gently and dry between sheets of kitchen paper.
  • Heat the oil in a shallow frying pan and fry the fish fillets until golden.
  • Remove with a slotted spoon and sprinkle over little ground spices and squeeze over some lime juice.
  • Serve hot with Tomato Rice.


  • 750 grams any firm white fish fillets, cut each fillet into 4 pieces
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Cooking oil, for shallow frying

Ground Spices

  • ½ teaspoon ginger paste
  • Salt, to taste
  • ½ teaspoon chilli powder
