Preparation Method :

  • Marinate the fish in yogurt and salt for about an hour, turn twice.
  • Heat little oil in a pan, add 1 onion and fry until crisp. Blend it with the remaining onion, the ginger, green chillies and garlic to a smooth paste.
  • Heat the remaining oil in a large frying pan with a lid. Fry the fenugreek seeds for about 20-30 seconds.
  • Add the prepared paste and fry until it starts to brown. Now add the fish and yogurt. Stir carefully and spoon the mixture over the fish.
  • Cover and cook for 5-7 minutes or until cooked through, add little water if needed.
  • Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with coriander sprigs.


  • 1 kg cod steaks
  • 150 grams natural yogurt
  • 150 grams onions, finely sliced
  • 50 ml Cooking oil
  • 1 inch piece fresh root ginger, thinly sliced
  • 4-6 green chillies
  • 2-3 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sprigs of fresh coriander, to garnish
