STUFFED HERRINGS

The stuffed herrings are made possible through accurate cooking procedures. This dish includes butter, lemon, parsley, walnut pieces, fresh mixed herbs, and other special ingredients. Preparing this dish is never been so tough but the cooking results are extremely appetizing and delicious.

30 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Melt the butter in a saucepan, add the onion and fry gently for about 5 minutes, until softened, stirring occasionally.
  • Meanwhile, mix together the breadcrumbs, walnuts, mustard, lemon rind, lemon juice and mixed herbs.
  • Season to taste. Add the onion and mix together well.
  • Open the herring fillets and lay skin side down. Press the stuffing mixture evenly over each fillet.
  • Fold the herring fillets back in half and slash the skin several times.
  • Melt the remaining butter in a large frying pan, add the fish and fry for about 10 minutes, turning them once, until they are tender and browned on each side.
  • Serve it hot.

INGREDIENTS

  • 50 grams butter
  • ½ medium union, skinned and finely chopped
  • 25 grams fresh whole meal breadcrumbs
  • 25 grams shelled walnut pieces, roughly chopped
  • 10 ml prepared English mustard
  • Finely grated rind and juice of 1 lemon
  • 25 ml chopped fresh mixed herbs, such as chives, parsley, rosemary, thyme
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 medium herrings, cleaned, boned and heads and tails removed
