Preparation Method :

  • Marinate the fish pieces with turmeric powder and salt for about half an hour. Heat the oil in a large pan, fry the onion seeds and curry leaves till the seeds crackle.
  • Add the fish pieces, fry them lightly. Add the ground masala paste, salt, two cups of water. Cook till the gravy thickens.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice, garnished with green chillies and coriander leaves.


  • 750 grams Rohu fish, cleaned, cut into pieces, rinsed and drained
  • 75 ml Mustard oil
  • 4-6 Green chillies finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoon Coriander leaves finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon Onion seeds
  • Few Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste

Grind to a fine paste

  • 1 Raw mango, peeled and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds    
  • 9 cloves Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Poppy seeds
  • 5-6 Kashmiri chillies
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
