Preparation Method :

  • Coat the fish in the turmeric and salt mixture.
  • Heat the oil in a large frying pan, add the fish and fry gently on both sides for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove the fish from the oil using a slotted spoon and set aside.
  • Add the onions, chillies, garlic and ginger to the pan and fry, stirring, until golden.
  • Stir in the vinegar and water. Return the fish to the pan, cover and cook gently for 5 minutes or until it is cooked through.
  • Transfer the fish to a serving dish garnish with coriander sprigs and serve.


  • 750 grams cod steaks
  • 50 ml Cooking oil
  • 4 teaspoon white wine vinegar
  • 50 ml water
  • 150 grams onions, sliced
  • 3 green chillies, thinly sliced
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 inch piece fresh root ginger, cut into fine strips
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sprigs of fresh coriander, to garnish
