Preparation Method :

  • Marinate the fish with salt and the ground masala paste for about half an hour.
  • Heat the oil and deep fry the fish pieces, few at a time, till well browned. Remove and drain.
  • Heat some more oil and fry the mustard seeds till they crackle. Add the chillies and ginger-garlic till the aroma arises.
  • Remove from the heat. Mix in the chilli and turmeric powder. Cool thoroughly and add the fried fish with sesame oil, vinegar, salt and mix well.
  • When the pickle cools thoroughly store in a clean dry bottle.


  • 750 grams Rohu fish cleaned, sliced, washed and drained 
  • 150 ml Vinegar
  • 2 teaspoon Ginger finely chopped 
  • 3 tablespoon Chilli powder
  • 100 ml Sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoon Garlic finely chopped 
  • 4 Green chillies slit lengthwise
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric powder 
  • 3 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • Cooking oil to fry
  • 100 ml Sesame oil
  • Salt to taste

Grind to a fine paste

  • 1 tablespoon Peppercorns
  • ½ teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 2-3 Red chillies
