Preparation Method :

  • For prawns masala:
  • Heat some oil in a pan. Add onion, green chilli, ginger, garlic, curry leaves and salt. Saute well until the onion get brown colour.
  • Add tomato and mix well.
  • Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, pepper powder and garam masala. Fry for 2 minutes.
  • Add prawns and stir well until the prawns are well coated with the masala.
  • Add little water into it. Cover with a lid and cook for another 5 minutes.
  • Mix the prawns masala, puttu powder and coconut scrapings.
  • Steam it until done.


  • 200 grams Prawns
  • 3 Onions
  • ½ a small Tomato
  • 2 Green chilli
  • Few Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic
  • 2 tablespoon Kashmiri chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper powder
  • ½ teaspoon Garam masala
  • 50 ml Sesame oil
  • Puttu powder
  • 4 tablespoon scraped coconut
