Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onion till light brown in colour. Add the tomatoes and the ground masala paste and blend well.
  • Add the prawns, salt and kokums. Stir for 2 minutes. Add the rice along with the water and cook covered till well done.
  • Serve garnished with coriander leaves.


  • 300 grams Prawns shelled, deveined and washed    
  • 150 grams Long-grain rice, washed and soaked
  • 400 ml Water
  • 50 ml Cooking oil
  • 75 grams Onions chopped lengthwise
  • 45 grams Tomato finely chopped
  • 3 Kokums        
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves chopped to garnish

Grind to a fine paste    

  • ½ teaspoon roasted Cumin seeds    
  • 50 grams Chicken stock cubes    
  • ¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder    
  • 9 cloves Garlic    
  • 9-10 Kashmiri chillies
  • 1 teaspoon roasted Coriander seeds
