FIVE-WILLOW FISH

Fish is one of the best ingredients you can include in any type diet dish like Five-Willow Fish. This recipe is usually offered by dietician to those who want to lose weight in just a month. This can easily cook for about one hour, so you don’t need to wait for too long.

Preparation Method :

  • Cut the cucumber in half lengthways and discard the soft centre. Slice the cucumber flesh and carrots into 2 inch matchstick pieces.
  • Put the cucumber, carrots, ginger, spring onions, crushed garlic and vinegar in a bowl and mix well. Leave to marinate for 30 minutes.
  • Score the fish by making 3 diagonal cuts on both sides. Heat the oil in a wok or deep frying pan, add the sliced garlic and fry for 1 minute.
  • Add the fish and fry for 1 minute on each side until golden brown.
  • Add the vegetables and marinade, stir in the hoisin sauce and sugar and cook for 2 minutes; sprinkle with the sesame seed oil.
  • Transfer the fish to a warmed serving dish and spoon over the vegetables and sauce.
  • If liked, garnish with a cucumber fan and carrot flower.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 small cucumbers
  • 4 carrots, peeled
  • 1 inch piece root ginger, peeled and sliced
  • 6 spring onions, chopped 
  • 4 cloves garlic, peeled 
  • 250 ml vinegar
  • 2 grey mullet, carp or bass, cleaned 
  • 8 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 2 tablespoon hoisin sauce 
  • 4 tablespoons sugar 
  • 2 tablespoon sesame oil
