Preparation Method :

  • Heat the butter in a heavy-based pan and add the cumin seeds. When the seeds begin to sizzle add the onion paste and the prawns. Fry for about 3-5 minutes.
  • Pour in half a cup of water. Stir for a minute or until the mixture is fairly dry.
  • Add the ground spices and lemon juice. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
  • Serve with Favourite Mixed Vegetable Rice.


  • 550 grams raw tiger or king prawns, peeled and de-veined
  • 50 grams unsalted butter
  • 4 teaspoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Ground Spices

  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste

Onion Paste - Ground

  • 1 onion, roughly chopped
  • ½ inch piece of root ginger, roughly chopped
  • 3-4 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
  • 25 grams roughly chopped fresh coriander
  • 1 whole green chilli
