Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a pan. Add the fennel seeds and fry for half a minute.
  • Add the prepared spice paste, chilli powder and salt, fry for about 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the tamarind juice, stir well and bring to the boil, then simmer for about 5-7 minutes.
  • Add the prawns, cover and simmer for 10-12 minutes or until cooked through, stirring occasionally. Serve hot.


  • 500 grams large raw peeled prawns
  • 250 ml hot water
  • 250 ml tamarind juice
  • 2 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • Chilli powder and salt, to taste

Ground to Paste

  • 25 grams fresh coriander leaves
  • 1 onion, roughly chopped
  • 2-3 green chillies
  • 2 garlic cloves
