Preparation Method :

  • Add the ground masala paste, salt and the powdered spices with little water to the prawns.
  • Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan and fry the onions till brown. Add the tomatoes and mash well.
  • Add the prawns along with measured water. Cook covered on a low flame for a 15-20 minutes or until the prawns are well done. Serve hot with chapatis.


  • 300 grams Prawns, shelled, cleaned, washed and drained    
  • 200 ml Water
  • 150 grams finely chopped
  • 2 Onions finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon powdered Coriander seeds     
  • 1 teaspoon powdered Fennel seeds
  • ½ teaspoon Cooking oil
  • Salt to taste

Grind to a fine paste

  • 6 Green chillies
  • 4 Red chillies    
  • 4 cloves Garlic
  • 3 tablespoon Coriander leaves
