Preparation Method :

  • Peel the onion and cut into 5 mm/1/4 inch thick round slices.
  • Mix the plain flour and rice flour, chilli powder, Asafoetida powder and salt. Blend well.
  • Separate into rings. Dip the rings in milk, then into seasoned flour, shaking off any surplus.
  • Heat the oil. Fry the onion rings for 2 to 3 minutes until crisp and golden. Drain on kitchen paper towels, salt lightly.
  • Serve hot.


  • 2 medium onions
  • 8 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • 2 tablespoons rice flour
  • 3 teaspoons chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Pinch of Asafoetida powder
  • IDHAYAM MANTRA Peanut Oil for deep frying
