Preparation Method :

  • Mix the black bean sauce, stock or water, fish sauce, oyster sauce and corn flour together in a small bowl.
  • Heat the oil in a wok or large frying pan and stir-fry the garlic over a medium heat for 1 - 2 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • Add the beef and stir - fry for 4 - 5 minutes.
  • Add the pepper and onion and stir-fry for another 3 - 4 minutes.
  • Add the black bean sauce mixture and spring onion and toss together. Taste and adjust the seasoning.
  • Spoon on to 4 warm serving plates.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.


  • 4 tablespoons Black bean sauce, roughly mashed
  • 200 ml Beef stock, vegetable stock or water 
  • 2 tablespoons Fish sauce 
  • 4 tablespoons Oyster sauce 
  • 1 tablespoon Corn flour 
  • 3 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 5 Garlic cloves , finely chopped
  • 750 grams Beef fillets , finely sliced
  • 2 Red or yellow pepper, deseeded, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 Onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 Spring onions 
  • Coriander leaves to garnish
