Preparation Method :

  • Fry the mackerel in hot oil until cooked and golden brown. Remove and set aside to drain oil.
  • Remove the fish bones, cut meat into pieces and set aside on a plate.
  • Mix the lemon juice, fish sauce and sugar together. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved then add the bird chili and lightly mix together.
  • Add the young ginger, shallots, lemongrass, scallions and fish meat then lightly blend the contents together.
  • Spoon out the contents onto a serving dish and serve with assorted vegetables as desired.



  • 3 Medium-sized mackerel, steamed
  • 50 grams Young ginger, slivered
  • 3 tablespoon Shallots, slivered    
  • 2 stems Lemongrass, slivered    
  • 2 stems Scallions, slivered
  • 2 tablespoon Green and red bird chili, slivered    
  • 4 tablespoon Lemon juice    
  • 3 tablespoon Fish sauce    
  • 2 tablespoon Brown sugar
  • IDHAYAM Mantra Peanut oil for frying        
  • Assorted fresh vegetables as desired
