Preparation Method :

  • Boil water then add the galangal, lemongrass, shallots and kaffir lime leaves. Bring to the boil again.
  • Add the straw mushrooms and small tomatoes then add the grilled prawns.
  • Season with fish sauce, tamarind juice and brown sugar. Turn off heat then add lemon juice.
  • Spoon the soup into a bowl and garnish with roasted dried bird chili and parsley.


  • Sugar used in the recipe is to soften the flavor but can be left out if sweetness is not desired.



  • 200 grams Grilled prawns    
  • 200 grams Straw mushrooms, sliced into 4 pieces
  • 6 pieces Small tomatoes, cut in half    
  • 5 slices Ripe galangal, sliced    
  • 2 stems Lemongrass, cut into pieces and slightly crushed
  • 3 pieces Shallots, slighted crushed    
  • 3 leaves Kaffir lime leaves    
  • 500 ml Water        
  • 3 tablespoon Fish sauce    
  • 1 ½ tablespoon Tamarind juice
  • 2 tablespoon Lemon juice    
  • 2 teaspoon Brown sugar    
  • 15 pieces Roasted dried bird chili    
  • 2 leaves Chopped parsley
