Preparation Method :

  • Wash both kinds of rice and put into a pot. Add sock and place over medium heat.
  • Stir frequently until boiling and the rice is done and tender.
  • Season to taste with light soy sauce.
  • Add all mushrooms and vegetarian shrimps; continue cooking until everything is cooked through. Turn off the heat and add fried tofu.
  • Ladle into a soup bowl, scatter on top with preserved Chinese cabbage, fried garlic, sliced spring onion, coriander and pepper.
  • Serve hot with condiments.


  • 300 grams uncooked brown jasmine rice
  • 100 grams uncooked glutinous rice
  • 2 liters vegetable stock
  • 4 tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 8 straw mushrooms, quartered
  • 8 fresh shiitake mushrooms, discard stems
  • 300 grams oyster mushrooms, torn
  • 300 grams black ear mushrooms cut into small pieces
  • 200 grams vegetarian shrimps
  • 300 grams hard white tofu, cut into thin slices and fry until slightly golden
  • 4 teaspoons preserved Chinese cabbage
  • 4 tablespoons fried garlic
  • 100 grams sliced spring onion and coriander pepper
  • Condiments: light soy sauce, sugar, pickled chili in vinegar and chili powder
