Preparation Method :

  • Peel red onion and wash well. Thinly slice lengthwise and put into a mixing bowl. Toss lightly with ground chilies, turmeric powder and salt.
  • Gradually ad sticky rice flour, followed by rice flour. Toss well before adding water, toss again and leave for 10 - 15 minutes.
  • Place a frying pan with oil over low heat, when the oil is slightly hot; drop the red onion mixture into hot oil and fry until golden and no bubbles remain. Remove and drain on absorbent paper.
  • Arrange on a serving dish and serve. 


  • 1 kg red onion
  • 2 teaspoons dried hot chilies, roasted and ground
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 200 grams sticky rice flour
  • 200 grams rice flour
  • 100 ml water
  • 1 liter Cooking oil
