Preparation Method :

  • Combine the flour, salt and butter. Mix it well.
  • Add the cheese (100 gram or half the quantity) and chives.
  • Gently pour the milk and mix to form soft dough. Knead it until smooth texture appears.
  • Roll out to about 1 or 1.5cm thick. Cut into many 5 cm round shaped scones.
  • Brush the tops with milk.
  • Place it on the baking sheets. In pre-heated oven, bake at 230°C for 7 - 10 minutes, until well risen and golden brown in colour.
  • Garnish with the remaining cheese and serve it.


  • 450 grams self-raising flour
  • 100 grams butter, diced
  • 200 grams cheese, grated
  • 300 ml milk 
  • 2 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • 2 tablespoon of milk for brushing
  • Salt to taste
